The Hon. Mary-Anne Thomas was appointed Minister for Health in June 2022 and Minister for Ambulance Services in October 2023 and has served as Leader of the House since December 2022. She has previously served as Minister for Medical Research, Minister for Health Infrastructure, Minister for Agriculture and Minister for Regional Development.
Soon after being elected to the Victorian Parliament as the Labor Member for the regional seat of Macedon in 2014, she was appointed the Parliamentary Secretary for Health, later adding Carers to her responsibilities. Mary-Anne then served as Cabinet Secretary from 2016-2020.
Prior to being elected to Parliament, Mary-Anne worked across the public, private and community sectors, including at the Department of Premier and Cabinet, NAB, and Plan International.
The Hon. Mary-Anne is passionate about reforming our public health system underpinned by a commitment to fairness and equality - to deliver all Victorians the best possible care, no matter where they live.
