Director Aboriginal Services, Diversity and Health Promotion - Bendigo Health

Professional Bio
Andrea (Andy) Sloane, Director, Aboriginal Services, Diversity and Health Promotion at Bendigo Health. 

Andy has a Bachelor’s Degree in Health Promotion and a Master’s Degree in Public Health and Nutrition. 

During an international travelling holiday in 1994, Andy developed a love for ancient history and became a tour guide in the Middle and Far East, before managing the tour operation in Cairo for almost two years. 

In 1999 Andy returned to Australia and completed a graduate degree in secondary teaching, whilst working for Asthma Victoria and Western District Health on integrated disease management programs. In 2003 she headed back to the Middle East where she taught secondary sciences and the primary years in international schools. 

In 2011, Andy returned to Australia and took up a position with Mildura Rural City Council as Manager of the Healthy Together Mildura initiative – a federally funded, systems based, population level initiative to reduce levels of chronic illness associated with obesity. 

In July 2016 Andy began working at Bendigo Health with community partners to focus on community wellbeing from a prevention perspective. In July 2018 she took on further portfolios of Aboriginal Support Services, and Diversity and now also works to create culturally safe environments for people accessing Bendigo Health.
