Professional Bio
Minister Stitt was elected to the Victorian Legislative Council at the 2018 state election representing the Western Metropolitan Region. She is the Minister for Mental Health, the Minister for Ageing and the Minister for Multicultural Affairs in the Allan Labor Government.
As Minister for Mental Health, she is passionate about person centered care and ensuring that Government listens and learns from peoples lived experience. She values the hard work and dedication of Victoria’s mental health workforce, and knows how important they are to the success of the Labor Government’s transformational reforms following the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
As Minister for Ageing, Minister Stitt is dedicated to ensuring that older Victorians stay connected with their community and are able to get the most out of their senior years. She sees the value of publicly owned and operated aged care, and will continue to support access to quality aged care services across Victoria.
As Minister for Multicultural Affairs, Minister Stitt believes that Victoria’s diversity is one of our state’s greatest strengths. She recognises the contribution that our proud multicultural communities make to our state. She is proud to support communities to celebrate their culture and make Victoria stronger and fairer.
Minister Stitt also served as Minister for Workplace Safety, Minister for Early Childhood and Pre-Prep and Minister for Environment in the Andrews Labor Government.
Prior to entering Parliament, Minister Stitt devoted her working life to fighting for low paid workers across the private and community sectors. As Secretary of the Victorian Branch of the Australian Services Union between 2004 -2018, Ingrid advocated for secure and safe work for her members in some of Australia’s largest private sector companies.
Minister Stitt has raised her family and lived in the West for over 20 years.
